Amyl and The Sniffers continue to confirm themselves as the most essential band in your life right now. A group with enough buzzsaw edge to cut down a redwood and smirk as it fell has released yet another serrated disc toward the sap-squirting bark.
The band announced their sophomore album earlier this month, and with every shimmy or shake that the band have made since then, they’ve proven that it could be one of the most volatile records of the year.
The album will be released via Rough Trade on September 10. The new single, ‘Security’, is another piece of the puzzle finding its home as the Australian once again deliver in buckets.
Debuted onstage already, the song is no surprise to the diehard fans of Amyl and her Sniffers, and I’m pretty confident that fans of the band will enjoy the ferocious mix of the singer’s shotgun delivery and the track’s notably pounding and pacy rhythm.
There’s a candied sensibility that runs deep through everything Amyl and The Sniffers do, as they belt out: “Security, security won’t you let me in your pub, I’m not looking for trouble, I’m looking for love,” it’s hard not be reminded of bands like the Buzzcocks and their searing sense of earworming splendour.
Amy Taylor is, of course, a wonder leading the group, but the power of the entire outfit is what really impresses and will undoubtedly impress come September too.
