Bob Dylan accused of sexually abusing 12-year-old girl in 1965

Bob Dylan has been sued by a woman who claims that the 80-year-old musician sexually abused her when she was just 12-years-old.

The lawsuit was filed in the New York Supreme Court last Friday, a day before the window for extended cases of the Child Victims Acts closed. Then-governor Andrew Cuomo had extended the ability for claims to be filed regardless of the amount of time that had passed any alleged incident. If a similar lawsuit were to be filed right now, the case’s statute of limitations would have passed.

“Bob Dylan, over a six-week period between April and May of 1965 befriended and established an emotional connection with the plaintiff,” the official suit reads. Dylan (born Robert Allen Zimmerman) allegedly sought to “lower [the victim’s] inhibitions with the object of sexually abusing her, which he did, coupled with the provision of drugs, alcohol and threats of physical violence, leaving her emotionally scarred and psychologically damaged to this day.”

The alleged victim, going by the name JC, is currently 68-years-old and claims to have suffered humiliation, depression, and economic loss as a result of the abuse and has sought medical treatment. The incidents of the suit allegedly occurred over a six-week period between April and May of 1965, after the release of Bringing It All Back Home but before the recording of Highway 61 Revisited. Dylan would have been 23 and possibly 24 during the alleged incidents.

The suit claims that Dylan “exploited his status as a musician by grooming J.C. to gain her trust and to obtain control over her as part of his plan to sexually molest and abuse J.C.”

“Dylan’s predatory, sexual and unlawful acts against Plaintiff amounted to a series of harmful and offensive contacts to Plaintiff’s person, all of which were done intentionally by him to her without her consent,” the document claims.

The lawyer representing JC told Page Six that, “She provided a lot of detailed information regarding the time in question that leaves no doubt that she was with him in the apartment during the time in question.”

A statement from Dylan’s representative was succinct: “This 56-year-old claim is untrue and will be vigorously defended.”

Updates on this story will be shared as they unfold.
