Bonnaroo 2021 cancelled amid Hurricane Ida

Bonnaroo Festival 2021 has been cancelled owing to heavy rains as a result of Hurricane Ida which have besieged the festival site. It’s a tragic set of events that has plagued many shows in recent weeks.

The annual festival was set to take place in Manchester, Tennessee from September 2nd up until the 5th but sadly event organisers have had to take the decision to call it off.

The acclaimed music celebration was set to feature Foo Fighters, Tame Impala and Megan Thee Stallion as headliners with Lizzo, Lana Del Rey and Tyler, The Creator also performing.

The cancellation was announced last night on social media in a statement that read: “Centeroo is waterlogged in many areas, the ground is incredibly saturated on our tollbooth paths, and the campgrounds are flooded to the point that we are unable to drive in or park vehicles safely.”

Adding: “We have done everything in our power to try to keep the show moving forward, but Mother Nature has dealt us a tremendous amount of rain over the past 24 hours, and we have run out of options to try to make the event happen safely and in a way that lives up to the Bonnaroo experience.”

And concluding: “All tickets purchased through Front Gate Tickets will be refunded in as little as 30 days to the original method of payment.”

“Please find ways to safely gather with your Bonnaroo community and continue to radiate positivity during this disappointing time. WE WILL SEE YOU ON THE FARM IN JUNE 2022!”

After a disappointing time for music in the last two years with the pandemic, this sad cancellation also shows the tragic impact that climate change is also likely to have on the industry.

In brighter news, Bonnaroo has revealed that the festival will return in June 2022 for a bumper 20th-anniversary edition.
