Multi-cultural indie rock powerhouse Gang of Youths premiered a new song called ‘Brothers’ at their show in London’s Lafayette venue last Thursday.
The band began the concert with ‘The Angel of 8th Ave.’ and ran through a thorough summary of their career up to this point including ‘Go Farther Into Lightness’, ‘The Heart Is a Muscle’ and ‘Magnolia’. After the live debut of another newly released track, ‘Unison’, the band gave their audience another taste of new music.
Halfway through the band’s set, frontman Dave Le’aupepe announced: “This one is about my father, and like many Black and Indigenous men, he has a fractured story.” The band then proceeded into a new number that was later revealed to be titled ‘Brothers’.
The Australian band, currently headquartered in the UK, surprise-released a new three-song EP Total Serene as a sort of holdover until the band’s new LP comes out.
The five-piece appears to have scrubbed the internet of videos containing their performance of ‘Brothers’, so instead, I’m just going to link Total Serene again and hope that the band end up releasing either ‘Brothers’ or their actual full-length LP in due time.
