It was a record-breaking year for Billie Eilish as she won a second consecutive record of the year. However, the momentous victory didn’t stop her heaping praise on her contemporaries.

Billie Eilish and her brother, FINNEAS, collected the Record of the Year away for the album Everything I Wanted. The album proved to be a critical hit in its lower-case glory and triumphed over the likes of Dua Lipa with Don’t Start Now, Post Malone with Circles and Beyoncé with Black Parade. However, the fellow nominee that Eilish focussed most on was Megan Thee Stallion.

In her acceptance speech, Eilished called Megan Thee Stallion a queen and inspiration, stating: “This is really embarrassing for me,” she said. “Megan, girl… I was gonna write a speech about how you deserve this but then I was like, ‘There’s no way they’re going to choose me.’ I was like, ‘It’s hers.’ You deserve this.”

Pausing during riotous applause breaks from the masked stars in attendance to add, “You had a year that I think is un-stoppable. You are a queen—I want to cry thinking about how much I love you… You deserve everything in the world, I think about you constantly… You deserve it.”

Elsewhere Billie Eilish scooped the gong for Best Song Written for Visual Media, for her work on the forthcoming James Bond feature, No Time to Die. The 19-year-old artist now has seven Grammy’s, and she just missed out on adding to that total with nominations for Song of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance.
