Lorde announces tour, shares details for ‘Solar Power’

The summer of Lorde is officially upon us. The New Zealand pop star has announced the tracklisting and official release date for her upcoming album Solar Power. The album will drop on August 20, so plan your New Zealand vacation accordingly.

By the looks of it, it’s actually going to have to be the year of our Lorde, because, in addition to the new Solar Power details, the artist also announced a 2022 tour. The trek will take her across the US, Canada, the UK, and Europe from late February into the early summer months of June.

A fun fact about the new album is that, instead of a traditional CD format, Solar Power will be available to buy as an “eco-conscious Music Box” that will include handwritten notes, photos, and a digital download of the album.

“I decided early on in the process of making this album that I also wanted to create an environmentally kind, forward-thinking alternative to the CD,” Lorde explained in a press release. “I wanted this Music Box product to be similar in size, shape and price to a CD, to live alongside it in a retail environment, but be something which stands apart and that’s committed to the evolving nature of a modern album.”
