SPINN share new EP and single ‘Daydreaming’

    SPINN – ‘Daydreaming’

Liverpool indie lads and Far Out favourites, SPINN, have released their brand new EP Daydreaming and the accompanying eponymous single.

“We’ve had ‘Daydreaming’ in the vaults for years and it always goes off live, but we could never get it right in the studio,” singer Johnny Quinn explains. “I’d almost given up – so when we recorded some of the new songs we decided to give this one last shot and finally – a new guitarist and a global pandemic later, we finally got it to sound good on record.”

SPINN are a rare modern alternative act that doesn’t feel any desire to dive into the dreary depths of bedroom pop or the grungy affectations of ’90s fetishism. Instead, the band are pop in the best possible sense: gigantic choruses, catchy melodies, feverishly optimistic lyrics, heart-pounding rhythms, and a carefree bounce that can only come from four young idealised lads with an incredibly bright future ahead of them.

Maybe it’s because we have all spent the past year-and-a-half-shut away from the world, unable to experience the joys of going out and enjoying a real carefree summer, but Daydreaming plays like the perfect soundtrack to the warm months of 2021. Contemporary and indelibly charming, SPINN are quite simply one of the most exciting young bands in England.

If you happen to be in the UK and want to experience them for yourselves, SPINN will be playing shows and festival in the second half of the year. After August appearances at the Above Festival in Leicestershire and a supporting slot with Circa Waves in their hometown, the band will kick off a brief UK tour through the first two weeks of November, ending with a stand at the O2 in Liverpool for a homecoming celebration.
