Spotify has teamed up with New York’s iconic Electric Lady Studios for a new series of live EPs recording by various beloved artists at the renowned recording house, that spawned Lou Reed’s Sally Can’t Dance and many more.
Taking part in the project are Japanese Breakfast, Patti Smith, Faye Webster, Bleachers, Dominic Fike, Natalie Bergman, Remi Wolf and Jon Batiste.
The debut release in the series set for July 29th will come from the bandleader John Batiste who will kick of proceedings with his Late Show jazzy vibes.
Electric Lady’s general manager, Lee Foster, announced in a statement: “The idea for Live at Electric Lady dates back to as early as the mid-’70s, done typically for various radio stations throughout the years. This, however, is the first time that it’s had a dedicated partner and a concrete plan forward.”
Adding, “Having Spotify, its staff, and its know-how has given us the big engine we needed to make this program a success. As we look to the future of continued curation of great music, content, and events, this partnership is a great step forward in our evolution, which we look forward to for many years to come.”
It is yet to be announced when the live sessions of the rest of the stellar roster will be released on the streaming service, but more is expected on that front soon.
