The Offspring drummer kicked out of the band after refusing Covid vaccine

On Tuesday, Pete Parada of The Offspring admitted that he had been booted from the band for refusing to be vaccinated against Covid-19.

In a series of Instagram posts, Parada described how he’s been replaced on the band’s tour and barred from entering the studio. This is all complicated by the fact that he has claimed he has a valid medical reason for not getting his jabs.

Parada’s post has come as a shock to many. But it still remains unclear whether he will be returning to the group or if he’s gone for good. However, his comments on working on a solo project and “finding a new way forward” in light of his dismissal, seems to indicate that it might be the latter.

In the post, he noted: “Since I am unable to comply with what is increasingly becoming an industry mandate, it has recently been decided that I am unsafe to be around, in the studio, and on tour. I mention this because you won’t be seeing me at these upcoming shows. I also want to share my story so that anyone else experiencing the agony and isolation of getting left behind right now knows they’re not entirely alone.”

Justifying his choice, Parada said that he believed he had developed sufficient antibodies after getting hit by the virus earlier in the year. His lifelong struggle with Guillain-Barré Syndrome also puts him at much greater risk from the Covid-19 vaccination. He says he is supportive of anyone else who resists the vaccine, whether it be due to medical reasons or those associated with government coercion.

In response to his bandmates decision, Parada wrote: “I have no negative feelings towards my band. They’re doing what they believe is best for them, while I am doing the same. Wishing the entire Offspring family all the best as they get back at it! I’m heartbroken not to be seeing my road community, and I will miss connecting with the fans more than I can express in words.”
