The War on Drugs share new album title, teaser for new song

American alt-rockers The War on Drugs have teased a snippet of a new song and released the title of their upcoming fifth studio album I Don’t Live Here Anymore on their social media pages.

The band had previously been revealed to have been shooting an upcoming music video, as revealed by the owner of the barn that the band was filming in on Facebook. “Fun film shoot in our barn today for an upcoming album release by Adam Granduciel, and his band, The War On Drugs,” the owner posted, which quickly picked up steam as the band’s fans began drooling over the possibility of new music.

Granduciel previously shared an update on new music from the band last year. “In March I would’ve told you it was 80 per cent done, and now looking back it was actually 40 per cent done,” he explained. “Some songs have been reimagined since, which has been a blessing. Some songs have had just one more layer of mud removed from them.”

Granduciel also previously previewed three new songs on an Instagram Live stream in March. The most recent new music that the band have shared was on a remote performance for The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in the fall of last year.

That song, titled ‘Ocean of Darkness’, was the first new music from the band since the release of their fourth studio album A Deeper Understanding back in 2017.

The announcement for I Don’t Live Here Anymore has been previewed with pictures of a red-stained vinyl and a cassette baring the names of songs like ‘Victim’, ‘I Don’t Wanna Wait’, and ‘Harmonious Dream’, all three of which were teased by Granduciel during his Instagram Live stream.

It is unclear if the most recent new song tease is either ‘Living Proof’ or ‘Change’, the other two titles on the cassette.

I Don’t Live Here Anymore is set for an October 29 release.
